Boundaries with kids
Family Works Boundaries for Kids is a group parenting programme that teaches practical positive parenting skills to help mums, dads and carers to build strong bonds with their children and promote good behaviour.
Clinical supervision
Family Works Central offers professional clinical supervision for people working in the 'helping professions', including counsellors, social workers, child care workers, field workers, youth workers, support workers and social service managers.
Counselling
Family Works counsellors will help you explore and understand your thoughts and feelings on a wide range of issues and then develop problem solving skills and coping mechanisms.
Counselling for children
Family Works specialist child counsellors can help children and teenagers to work through difficult times, including (but not limited to) grief and loss, bullying, depression, anxiety, school or exam stress, family separation, sexuality, identity and other life issues.
Counselling for couples
Family Works’ couples counselling or relationship counselling can assist and support you to navigate the ‘rocky patches’ in your relationship. We'll work with you to create a more loving and fulfilling relationship, or to move on in a positive way.

Family Dispute Resolution
Family Dispute Resolution, also known as Family Works Resolution Service, is a mediation service designed to help separated/separating parents reach agreement on parenting and child care, without the need to go to court.

Family Works’ family therapy is a type of counselling that supports families and whānau to work through issues and become a stronger family unit.
Family Violence Safety Support
Family Works provides a range of specialist services to support children, teenagers, adults and families who have experienced family violence. Free to be Me
Family Works Free to be Me programme supports those who have experienced family violence to stay safe, to heal and to work towards a brighter future. Family Works runs tailored Free to be Me programmes for women and for children.
Girls programme
Family Works ‘What about the girls’ programme, is a fun and relaxed group programme for girls, aged 12 – 16, where they can build confidence, learn practical life skills and have some fun in a supportive environment.
Good Fathers parenting programme
The Good Fathers Programme has been designed especially for dads and dads-to-be. It’s a chance to find out how to build stronger bonds with your kids and to manage the challenges that come with being a dad.
Growing Together parenting programme
Growing Together is Family Works Central's own parent education and support programme.
Incredible Years parenting programme
Incredible Years is a popular and highly successful parenting support and education programme for parents and guardians of children aged between three and eight years. It’s all about creating an enjoyable and harmonious family life!
Mediation
Mediation is a voluntary, informal way of resolving disputes or issues between two or more people. Family Works expert mediators will support the parties to talk through their issues in a structured way. It’s a great choice when the parties have to continue having contact in the future, such as when a relationship breaks down.
Negotiating the Minefield parenting programme
Sometimes parenting a teen really can feel like you're negotiating a minefield! Family Works’ Negotiating the Minefields parenting education programme has been designed to help you understand your teenager’s situation and provide a variety of helpful and proactive strategies.
New Settlers Group
Family Works hosts the Hutt Valley New Settlers support group for women who have migrated to New Zealand, in particular those who are feeling isolated after leaving their extended family and friends for a new life here.
Parenting through Separation
Family Works Parenting through Separation is a free, practical information course that helps you work out what’s best for your children when you’re separating. Topics cover supporting children through a separation, communicating with your former partner, and how to make a parenting plan.
Restorative justice
Family Works restorative justice service aims to heal the harm caused by a crime. It involves a facilitated meeting between the victim and the offender and is designed to redress the harm experienced by victims, while also holding the offender to account.

Social Workers in Schools
Social Workers in Schools, often referred to as SWiS, sees Family Works social workers who specialise in working with children and their families working in schools and alongside teaches to address issues at-home or school so that the kids can thrive and reach their full potential.
Strengthening Families
If your family is being supported by more than one community organisation or government service, Strengthening Families may be for you. As a service coordinator, Family Works can bring together all the agencies working with you, to discuss your needs and decide how everyone will help.
Te Ara Whanau | Family Solutions
Te Ara Whānau, the Family Solutions model, is Family Works unique way of working with family and whānau facing significant and complex challenges. It engages the whole whānau and provides support that is tailored to both individual needs and that of the whole family unit, creating positive and lasting change.
Youth mentoring
Family Works youth mentoring supports young people, aged between 12 and 16 years, who are having a tough time and need some extra adult support and encouragement.
